Georgia Bushcraft Fall Gathering 2025

In November we attended our first Georgia Bushcraft Fall Gathering. There we camped out for the weekend among fellow bushcraft enthusiasts and passionate individuals within the outdoor community. The Georgia Bushcraft Fall Gathering offers dozens of vendors and instructional sessions juxtaposed against the backdrop of a family oriented atmosphere.

Here are some highlights from our weekend at Georgia Bushcraft Fall 2025.

Braintanning with Melonie Stranger

Melonie gave a great instructional overview on braintanning deer hides. While we have experimented with braintanning fur in the past, Melonie provided excellent tips for producing a better product and for tanning hair off buckskins.

He offered a series of tips for outdoor leaders to consider as they plan outdoor trips of meaning. One of our favorite parts about Matt’s class was his analogy to the Lord of the Rings ‘heroes journey’.

Dave Canterbury of Self Reliance Outfitters and the Pathfinder School gave an informative overview of surviving “on the water’s edge”. His seminar echoed his popular YouTube series of the same name. It was great to learn in person from Dave and learn about his water-source food procurement focused kit. We will definitely be integrating some ideas into our kits.
